To Fix the World

This is going to be one of those posts that I’m going to look back on, and think “that was a pretty good post”.  And then I’m going to regret it utterly. Today, I had a bad experience at work.  My team has just been merged with another team, and both of our different teams have different skills to add to the mix.  One of the people on the “other” team we’ve been merged with was giving a code review, and I gave a lot of helpful suggestions.  Or I… Read More »To Fix the World

Bushido: There Are No Answers

I think this is going to be another long post on the level of the series of posts I wrote on transactional love, earlier. So buckle up, here we go. I have mentioned before that I was raised in a religious cult. This gave me a lot of perspectives that are unusual, and not understood by most people. I have come to accept this, and just consider it a fact of life that I will not, ever, find any common ground with my readers. So instead, I come at blogging… Read More »Bushido: There Are No Answers

When Celebrities Die

I’m not just a fan of Japanese media. Of late, I’ve also become a fan of British panel shows, such as “Would I Lie to You”, “Taskmaster”, “8 out of Ten Cats”, “QI”, and pretty much everything else where Jimmy Carr’s distinctive laugh has been present in one for or another. I’m not really a huge fan of too much else British, but they seem to have the panel show format down. In fact, that’s where “Whose Line is it Anyway” originally came from, which may be one of the… Read More »When Celebrities Die

Ants

I have a bit of an ant problem in my house. Dunno where they came from but I started finding them everywhere. Little blighters that get into everything in search for that next bit of food. Harmless but annoying. So I got some Terro. It is a sweet liquid that ants love, mixed with borax. They will feast at it until their bellies are full, take it back to the nest,.and share it with everyone until they die a couple of days later. You can even see them forming a… Read More »Ants

Requiem for a Narcissist

Last night, I got the news that my father died two days ago. From what I understand, he had a stroke a few weeks ago, and didn’t make it. He was 77. Typically, in these kinds of posts, people would post good memories they had with their father, and end on some sappy note, and everyone would walk away full of tears. I wish I could write a post like that, but I can’t. The last time I saw him was twenty years ago. My last words to him were… Read More »Requiem for a Narcissist

Speaking Ill of the Dead

Today, a broadcasting great, Rush Limbaugh, has died at 70 of Lung cancer. Plenty will have been said of Mr. Limbaugh’s accomplishments, and they are many. Whether or not you agree with them, it’s impossible to overstate his achievements in the shaping of conservative thought over forty years. I agreed on some things, disagreed on others. But I think I will let others write an obituary. There will be many who will do a better job than I. I want to, instead, call out the atrocious behavior of people who… Read More »Speaking Ill of the Dead
