The Key

This post will have some semi-religious content. Don’t worry. I always go somewhere with it, and I don’t proselytize, ever. I was just raised in a semi-Christian tradition, I have some theological training, so I just need to go there sometimes. I mentioned that I really like the song “Give a Reason” by Megumi Hayashibara. But there are some lyrics that will nicely springboard into the topic I wish to talk about きっとどこかに「答」ある 生まれてきた答が 人は皆それを求め やるせない のがせない 夢に向かうの “Give a Reason”, Megumi Hayashibara Of course, this is in Japanese. Roughly… Read More »The Key

Beautiful Dreams and Horrible Nightmares

You’re an interesting species, an interesting mix. You’re capable of such beautiful dreams and such horrible nightmares. You feel so lost, so cut off, so alone, only you’re not. See, in all our searching, the only thing we found that makes the emptiness bearable, each other. “Contact”, Carl Sagan I’m not a huge movie fan, but if I’m to be honest, I don’t think there are any quotes in any movies that I like more than that one. There was a time, a long time ago, that kind of had… Read More »Beautiful Dreams and Horrible Nightmares

Bushido: There Are No Answers

I think this is going to be another long post on the level of the series of posts I wrote on transactional love, earlier. So buckle up, here we go. I have mentioned before that I was raised in a religious cult. This gave me a lot of perspectives that are unusual, and not understood by most people. I have come to accept this, and just consider it a fact of life that I will not, ever, find any common ground with my readers. So instead, I come at blogging… Read More »Bushido: There Are No Answers

This post is going to sound like I’m being a braggart dick in the first part. Hold on, it’ll get better. I just recently started picking up doing sudokus. After having figured out some of the patterns, I moved on to expert and giant levels. I find them easy, and boring. I find them such because all a sudoku is, is a giant chain of logic, and the key to solving one is to set up the chain (or chains) of logic, and then find the thread that you can… Read More »Boring

Nihongo de posuto

You know, in all my years of posting, I think I’ve done one post in Japanese. It’s time for another. I guess it’s improved. Oh well.

Working on my new site has been a bit… troublesome to me psychologically. It’s nothing I can’t handle, but it’s promoting quite a bit of thought. I decided to add a monthly post to the front page where I talk about all of the big anime, etc., events in Texas(there are lots of smaller ones but I’d never get it done if I added everything – Texas is a big place). Turns out there are three all over the state next weekend. In doing the research for that, I discovered… Read More »Comic-Cons

Kawaii may be the only real Japanese word many people know. And they really don’t know what it means. It’s usually translated as “cute”. And that’s one of the meanings, for sure. Maybe it’s even the primary meaning. But that’s not really what it means. They actually have another word for cute, “aikurushii” which seems to have a more pure meaning of “cute”. Not pure innocence-wise, but it seems to be more of a direct translation to our word “cute”. I think a better translation of kawaii is “childlike”. That’s… Read More »Kawaii

Morning Musume

I have been feeling a little ill today. I think maybe all of the stress and depression from the last few days have been getting to me. Or I’m just sick. I dunno. So I watched a few old episodes of Morning Musume variety shows. I’ve told the story before of how I started with my journey of learning Japanese – I saw their “English lesson”, saw all of the neat characters scrolling across the screen, and told myself I’d learn what they meant. Several years later, I largely have… Read More »Morning Musume

I wish I had something fun to post about. I’m sure I could find something fun if I really tried. Or at least something sorta fun. Maybe I should write a beginner’s guide to solving sudoku at some point, because I seem to be pretty good at it. There’s lots of JPop music out there I could listen to, I have several projects I need to work on. And I really don’t feel like doing any of it. Depression isn’t laziness. When you’re lazy you just don’t want to do… Read More »Despondency

Our Sociopath with Dementia for a President

I feel like I need to post something tonight. Not because I have an expectation on myself that I should post every night, but just that I feel like I have a post in me that wants to come out. I tried writing one earlier, but that one is, again, probably best left between me and my therapist. Last night I was at a Walgreens. I won’t say where, except to say what you already know – somewhere in Central Texas. It was pretty busy for some reason. The drive… Read More »Our Sociopath with Dementia for a President
